Au c\u0153ur de ce projet, les \u00e9quipes de recherche ont cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 valoriser \u00e9conomiquement l\u2019un des services naturels les plus essentiels mais souvent n\u00e9glig\u00e9s : la capacit\u00e9 des cours d\u2019eau \u00e0 r\u00e9guler la qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019eau en \u00e9liminant et en diluant les nitrates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato;\">Dans cette \u00e9tude appliqu\u00e9e au bassin de l\u2019\u00c8bre, une r\u00e9gion semi-aride d&rsquo;Espagne particuli\u00e8rement vuln\u00e9rable aux fluctuations de la qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019eau, les \u00e9quipes du CRBE et de IA2 ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une m\u00e9thode innovante pour mesurer l&rsquo;impact \u00e9conomique de ce service \u00e9cosyst\u00e9mique. Leur approche met en \u00e9vidence le concept des \u00ab co\u00fbts \u00e9vit\u00e9s \u00bb, illustrant comment la nature, en filtrant et diluant les polluants de mani\u00e8re naturelle, permet de r\u00e9duire la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019interventions humaines co\u00fbteuses en aval. En d\u2019autres termes, chaque m\u00e8tre cube d\u2019eau d\u00e9pollu\u00e9e naturellement par ces \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes repr\u00e9sente une \u00e9conomie potentielle pour les communaut\u00e9s locales et une protection durable pour l\u2019environnement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato;\">Cette recherche ne se contente pas de quantifier un service invisible, elle met \u00e9galement en lumi\u00e8re l&rsquo;importance de pr\u00e9server ces processus naturels, surtout dans des r\u00e9gions o\u00f9 les ressources en eau sont pr\u00e9cieuses et limit\u00e9es.
